Not hot. A lightly spiced tomato sauce, with a taste of chili. Kid salsa.

Makes 1 cup.


  • 2-3 plum tomatoes
  • 1 tomatillo (optional)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 guajillo chili
  • 1 cup water


  • 1 juice lime
  • 1/4 tsp salt

In small pot with lid soak dry guajillo chili in water. With lid on, simmer and steam vegetables and chili for 5m. Use slotted spoon to remove vegetables from the water. Remove stems from chilis after simmering, before adding to blender. Reserve the liquid. Add lime juice and salt. Blend high for 30s. Adjust thickness with reserved liquid. Pour into serving container.
