Rice Bowl

I just make bowls with whatever is available, starting with rice and legumes. More a formula or template than a recipe. I almost always include some chopped onions, and commonly include shredded cabbage and carrots, and I like adding pickles, including pickled chilis and sometimes sauerkraut, and either cilantro or parsley.

Many possible combinations. 


  • Rice: brown rice
  • Legumes: beans, chickpeas, lentils 


  • Vegetables: onion, green onion, cabbage, carrot, tomato
  • Dressing: lemon, lime, cilantro, parsley, pickles, sauerkraut, hot sauce
